(PARIS) Chanel
Amid a glittering igloo-esque whitewashed backdrop and the croons of Florence Welch, Chanel turned out a fantastical spate of cleanly cut flutters and flounces, utilizing the venerable Parisian house's classic suited, skirted silhouettes, rendered modern with geometric traces of noir squares cut on a diagonal and LBDs done with angular necklines. Wispy blush tutus were sharpened by shrunken, round-hemmed, piped mint and pink blazers, pearls adorned satin hot pants (and much more), while black leather injected a bit of edge on key pieces. Incandescent opal-like paillettes glimmered on boxy, hallmark Chanel blazers and fanciful daytime frocks, while darker looks were piped and coated in patterned, sheer scales. Amid a series of sherbet-hued knit looks, the sweater dress became an all-out lustworthy love affair, done in sleeveless shifts adorned with mollusk-like silver trim, bell-sleeved icy white, and a sage green number with voluminous short sleeves. White shifts were traced in luminous ribbons of metallic blue, conjuring a bevy of eels, some wriggling beyond the frocks' hems. Artfully cut maillots and vampy haltered bikinis were accompanied by shrunken, transparent macs etched with faint tadpole-like squiggles. A grand display of intricate yet frothy adornments on (more) black and white dresses, like exquisite sea anemone, closed out another killer collection from Karl Lagerfeld.
