Coco For a Cause
(NEW YORK) Coco Rocha gave her heart away last night at Opera Gallery—not to a dashing Don Juan—but to 450 students and 103 orphans afflicted by the Haiti disaster. Joining LakayPAM, a non-profit organization helping children in need, Rocha headed to the Meat Packing District, rounding up fashion insiders along the way for a charity soiree and silent auction. 100% of the evening’s profit went toward the reconstruction of a destroyed school as well as toward medical and nutritional care for the orphans.
“We connected through Elite,” explained LakayPAM founder Cedrick Roche. “Coco is a friend of my wife, Carolina, but the cause is what really connected us. I think it’s Karma, you know?” Karma must have been on their side. In the middle of the evening, bids had topped $25,000! What were the hot items of the night? “The signed model pictures are going well as is the original artwork by Brainwash,” observed Roche.
The Daily asked Coco Rocha what the most embarrassing item she’d sell to raise money for a good cause. Her answer: lingerie. “I got new bras so people might want my bra,” she grinned. “But that’s just weird.”
